How to Get a Michigan Medical Marijuana Card

Whether you are getting your Michigan medical marijuana card for the first time or renewing your existing MMMP card, the process is the same. Medical cannabis cards are valid in Michigan for 3 years. It can take up to 30 days to receive your MMMP card in the mail, so be sure to start the application process asap. Anyone over 18 years old can apply for their own card by following the steps below.

Before you apply, make sure that you qualify by having one of the conditions listed below:

  • Cancer
  • Glaucoma
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Hepatitis C
  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Agitation of Alzheimer’s disease
  • Nail patella
  • Cachexia or wasting syndrome
  • Severe and chronic pain
  • Severe nausea
  • Seizures, including characteristics of epilepsy
  • Severe and persistent muscle spasms, including characteristics of multiple sclerosis
  • PTSD
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Colitis
  • OCD
  • Arthritis
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Tourette’s Syndrome
  • Chronic pain
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Autism
  • Ulcerative colitis
  • Spinal cord injury

Step 1: Create an online account with LARA

The first step to getting your medical card in Michigan is to create an account and register with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. Don’t listen to companies that claim they can get you a MMMP Card for you. The only legal way to get a card is for you to apply through the state’s official government website. Step 2: Get Approval from a Qualified Doctor

While there are some Michigan doctors who will agree to do a consultation about how cannabis can help you, it’s much easier to find a dedicated Michigan medical marijuana doctor. Since there is no list of MMJ doctors provided by the state, we recommend that you go with a doctor we trust right here in Lansing:

Step 3: Complete Your Application Online

Once you have been recommended medical marijuana from a doctor, the final step is to complete and submit your application using the LARA account you made earlier. There is a $60 application fee, and you must prove that you are a resident of Michigan by uploading one of the following documents:

  • Michigan ID card
  • Michigan driver’s license
  • Signed Michigan voter registration card
